about the project
The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained Jacobs to undertake the Preliminary Design and Class Environmental Assessment (EA) study for the replacement of the Nash Creek (formerly Hoasic Creek) bridges along Highway 401 in the Township of South Dundas. The work includes the replacement of both the structure carrying the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 and the structure carrying the westbound lanes of Highway 401 over Nash Creek. The work is being undertaken due to deterioration of the bridges.
Class environmental assessment process
The Study is following the approved environmental planning process for Group B undertakings in accordance with the Class Environmental Assessment for Provincial Transportation Facilities and Municipal Expressways, 2024. An online Public Information Centre is planned for the project to provide an opportunity for the public and stakeholders to review project material and provide comments. Advance notification will be provided.
A Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) will be prepared to document the Recommended Plan as well as a summary of consultation activities, existing conditions, evaluation of alternative methods (designs), anticipated environmental impacts and proposed mitigation. The TESR will be made available on this project website for a 30-day public comment period.
